About St. John Kame Coptic Orthodox Church

St. John Kame Coptic Orthodox Church was established in 1994 and is part of the Coptic Orthodox Metropolis of the Southern United States . We are a small friendly community dedicated to serving the spiritual and liturgical needs of the faithful in the Birmingham area and the State of Alabama. Two visiting priests from Atlanta, GA and Nashville, TN currently serve the church.

St. John Kame Coptic Orthodox Church in Birmingham, Alabama, is a small community of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, one of the world's oldest Christian churches. Our spiritual heritage dates back to the apostolic ministry of Saint Mark the Evangelist in the first century. As part of the Coptic Orthodox Metropolis of the Southern United States, we serve the spiritual needs of Coptic Orthodox Christians throughout the Birmingham area and Alabama while welcoming all who seek to learn about the Coptic Orthodox faith.

Through the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, faithful adherence to the teachings of the Orthodox Church, and a strong commitment to fellowship, service, and Christian education, St. John Kame Coptic Orthodox Church strives to be a place where individuals and families grow in their relationship with God and one another.

About the Coptic Orthodox Church

The Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. Deeply rooted in history, it was founded in Egypt around 42 AD by Saint Mark the Apostle and Evangelist.

The word "Copt" stems from the ancient Greek word for Egyptian (Aigyptios), reflecting the church's deep cultural and historical ties to the land of the Nile.
